Naval Piercing and softball?

So starting this tuesday i have a softball league that lasts 6 weeks and is two days a week..I want to get my naval pierced and i was wondering when the best time would be to get that done..and when my other league starts up in the winter am i going to be able to keep the ring in when i play there and how long does it take for the hole to grow after its completely healed up?
